Visualizing the energy around us

MARCH 4 | 2010 | 3:30 PM

The Canadian and US Governments recently embarked on projects to capture real world data, digitize it, and create software to analyze how we use energy.  This will be an invaluable tool for urban planners, utility companies, developers, architects, engineers, and building owners.  These tools are still in early phases of development.  We hope to bring you continuing coverage of how they evolve, success stories about how they have been used, and ways that you can use them or assist in their development.

The Canadian project is called the Urban Archetypes Project.

The American project has two components.  One is the open source wiki-project to collect and catalogue the data.  It is called Open Energy Info.  It is intended for worldwide deployment and use.  The second component is the visualization tool, VIBE.
